How do I clean and maintain my rug?

Cleaning and maintaining a rug can be a straightforward process if you follow some basic steps. Here are some tips on how to clean and maintain your rug:

  1. Vacuum your rug regularly: Vacuum your rug at least once a week, or more frequently if it gets a lot of foot traffic. Use a vacuum cleaner with a beater bar or rotating brush to help remove dirt and debris. Please note that on longer pile rugs and wool rugs you should always turn the beater bar off.
  2. Shake or beat your rug: If your rug is small enough, you can take it outside and shake or beat it to remove dirt and debris.
  3. Spot clean spills and stains: If you spill something on your rug, blot it up immediately with a clean cloth or paper towel. Then, use a mild detergent and warm water to clean the area. Rinse the area thoroughly with water and blot it dry.
  4. Deep clean your rug: Depending on the material and type of rug you have, you may need to deep clean it every year or so. You can do this yourself with a carpet cleaner or hire a professional rug cleaner.
  5. Rotate your rug: To help prevent wear and tear in one area, rotate your rug every six months or so.
  6. Use a rug pad: A rug pad can help protect your rug and prevent it from slipping or sliding around on the floor.
  7. Avoid direct sunlight: Direct sunlight can cause fading and damage to your rug. Try to keep your rug out of direct sunlight.

By following these tips, you can help keep your rug clean and looking great for years to come.
